FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

A. The Adoption Period is 1 year. The program fee is $150 USD, paid at the beginning of your adoption year.
Q. When do I get my wool?
A. Shearing takes place in Jan. If you want it processed (roving or yarn), if takes a couple of months. If you want it raw, we ship it to you right after shearing.

A. You can enroll any time, and your adoption period will go for the next 12 months.
Q. What kind of sheep am I adopting?
A. A Coopworth ewe (female) who stays in the flock year after year to produce lambs. These are lovely wool producers.
Q. Do I have to live within driving distance?
A. No. The seasonal visits are a bonus, not a necessity. Our correspondence will make you feel like you’re right here on the farm, and we can send your fleece or processed wool by mail.
Q. Can I share my sheep with a friend?
A. Yes, as long as there is one designated contact person with whom we communicate.
Q. What if...what if my sheep dies?
A. Should your sheep suffer an unexpected loss of life, we’ll either refund your fee prorated to the nearest month, or offer you a swap should another sheep be available.
Q. How do you organize the seasonal visits?
A. We set aside a block of time and notify our Adoptive Families by email.
Q. What if I want my fleece processed, not raw?
A. The fleece in its raw (straight off the sheep) state and picked up at the farm is included in the Adoption. If you want it as roving, quilt batting, yarn, or felt, we would be happy to coordinate this. You would be responsible for the processing charges which average $150-$200. If you live out of state and want the raw fleece mailed to you, shipping charges apply.
